Snow Men

On Monday the 13th we got some snow up the Awatere Valley. At lunch some of us decided to make a big snow ball each, but then decided to make snow men. Mine wore my gloves, had rocks for eyes and some tussock for eye brows and hair. I had lots of fun.

And Alice stayed warm inside with the cat, reading a Michael Morpurgo book...

Cross Country Run

Simon's sprint to the line

On Friday the tenth of August, we all participated in the loacal cross country in Seddon. Everyone ran against their own year group, separated in girls and boys. For some people it was the last year of cross country they will do - such as Simon, Lucy and Alice who will be off to boarding school next year. All the people that are going away to boarding school placed!!! I got 2nd place in the year six girls and ran 2.5 km. I was really pleased with myself, because this is the first ever time I placed in a cross country run. I am sure everyone enjoyed the run and did better than last year.

Iroquois Helicopter Visit - August 9th

On Thursday an Iroquois Helicopter visted us. We were allowed to climb all over the helicopter and even sit in the pilot's seat!!!! Five Airforce men came in the helicopter: a pilot, co-pilot, a person that fixed the chopper, and two others. We asked them lots of questions, e.g. Where did it come from originally? US. I found out that the name comes from an American Indian tribe.

While the Iroquois was here we kids started a game which wasn't so good, so one of the guys named Mouse, showed some word commands that they used to get out of the helicopter while under gun fire. I had so much fun; it was so interesting. We had to ask open ended questions to test them out. While they were leaving they left one of the men behind. The pilots flew away then turned back to pick him up. But they just winched him instead.
